Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced the cessation of military operations in Yemen in order to make room for the success of negotiations between the Yemeni parties, on Tuesday.

The spokesman for the coalition, Turki Al-Maliki, said in statements carried by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA): “In response to the invitation submitted by His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf Dr. The occasion is for the success of the consultations and the creation of a positive environment during the blessed month of Ramadan to make peace and achieve security and stability in Yemen, upon which the leadership of the joint forces of the coalition announces the cessation of military operations inside Yemen,” he said.

Al-Maliki confirmed that the cessation of military operations will begin at six o’clock on Wednesday morning in response to Al-Hajraf’s request and in support of the efforts “supportive efforts to reach a comprehensive and sustainable political solution to end the Yemeni crisis, and achieve security and stability for brotherly Yemen, which comes in the context of international initiatives and efforts under the auspices of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General.” The United Nations for Yemen and the Saudi initiative to end the Yemeni crisis and reach a comprehensive political solution,” he said.

The coalition spokesman indicated that the leadership of the joint forces of the coalition will abide by the ceasefire process and will take all necessary steps to ensure the success of this step and “create the appropriate conditions and create a positive environment during the blessed month of Ramadan to make peace and end the crisis,” as he put it.

Riyadh is hosting “Yemeni-Yemeni” negotiations in order to end the crisis, at the invitation of the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, while the Houthis launched an initiative, declaring a 3-day ceasefire since Saturday.
