Wael Gomaa, the former manager of the Egyptian national team, announced his official departure from the technical staff of the Egyptian national team, after the national team lost from Senegal in the World Cup qualifiers and did not qualify for the World Cup.
Senegal qualified for the 2022 World Cup after defeating Egypt in a penalty shootout with a score of 3-1, after the result of the two legs of the first leg ended in a positive tie with a score of 1-1.
Wael Gomaa wrote through his personal account on the social networking site “Twitter”: “Today is the end of my journey and my presence as an official with the Egyptian national team, and I return once again to the ranks of the fans belonging to my national team. I thank all the people who supported and encouraged us and all the best for our team in what is to come.”
He added, “Thank you to the respected technical staff led by a world coach, who benefited a lot from him in a short period of time, and I hope that he will continue with our team for many years to benefit from what he possesses of knowledge and experience.
Wael Gomaa continued: “A great thanks to the administrative staff for the work, diligence and support, and the biggest thanks to the assistant medical staff, who made a very great effort with the team, and I witnessed it in difficult matches, thank you all.”
And he concluded: “With continued success for Egyptian football, and always the flag of our country, Egypt, in the sky.”
