Yesterday evening, Tuesday, the five African seats were determined for the 2022 World Cup, with Tunisia, Morocco, Ghana, Senegal and Cameroon qualified.
The five teams representing Africa in the Qatar World Cup have all participated in the World Cup, and they were all present either in the last (2018) or the previous (2014) edition.
Morocco national team
The Atlas Lions are preparing to participate in the finals for the sixth time, after being in 5 previous editions in 1970, 1986, 1994 and 1998.
The best achievement of the Moroccan team in the World Cup was to reach the round of 16 in the 1986 edition, when it was eliminated after losing (0-1) against West Germany.
In total, the Moroccan team played 16 matches in the World Cup finals, winning 2 of them, drawing 5 and losing 9, scoring 14 goals and conceding 22.
Tunisia national team
The Tunisian national team participated in 5 previous editions of the World Cup, in 1978, 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2018, all of which were eliminated from the group stage.
The “Carthage Eagles” played 15 matches in the World Cup finals, winning 2 of them, drawing 4 and losing 9 times, scoring 13 goals and receiving 25.
Cameroon national team
The “Untamed Lions” team has previously participated in 7 World Cups, in 1982, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2010 and 2014.
Cameroon’s greatest achievement in the World Cup was reaching the quarter-finals of the 1990 edition and losing at the hands of England (2-3), in a match that extended to overtime.
Cameroon played 23 matches in the World Cup, winning 4 of them, drawing 7 and losing 12 times, scoring 18 goals and receiving 43.
Ghana national team
The Ghanaian national team participated in 3 previous editions of the World Cup in 2006, 2010 and 2014, and it has passed the group stage on two occasions.
The “Black Stars” team bid farewell to the 2016 World Cup with a loss (0-3) against Brazil in the round of 16, and in the next version, the Uruguayan team was eliminated by penalty kicks from the quarter-finals.
Ghana played 12 matches in the World Cup finals, winning 4 of them, drawing 3 and losing 5 times, scoring 13 goals and receiving 16.
Senegal national team
The Teranga Lions team recorded its presence in two previous editions of the World Cup, in 2002 and 2018.
Senegal achieved its best achievement in the World Cup by reaching the quarter-finals of the 2002 edition, before losing the golden goal against Turkey in extra time.
Senegal played 8 matches in the World Cup, winning 3 of them, drawing 3 and losing twice, scoring 11 goals and receiving 10 goals.
